This Al Kaline card is from the same stylistic set as the Stan Musial in post #1. The All-star selections were made by Sport Magazine. In 1960 the played two All-star games two days apart. In the first match-up, Al Kaline hit a 2-run home run and scored another in a losing effort for the AL. The American League was blanked in the second game, though Kaline registered a hit and a walk.
Topps (and other card companies) in the 80s pretty much made one series of cards. What you could get on opening day was the same cards you could get from packs at the end of the season. They would then make separate set with the season's new players, traded players, and sometimes the all-star selections from the mid-sumer classic. The base set all-star cards were always from the previous season's All-Star Game.
In earlier years (and later years), Topps would update the set as they went with second series packs, and even third, fourth, fifth, or sixth series. The all-star cards were the seventh! and last series in 1960. This is how you get a 1960 All-Star Game card in a 1960 set.
