Bob Gibson is a baseball great among greats. Sadly, he died last year. I won't go into all the glorious details of his career here, but if you want to know more about Bob, the book he wrote with Reggie Jackson is a treat. And this production by Jon Bois shows some great stuff about how great Bob was.
I like the 1967 Topps designs. It is fairly boring, but it doesn't get in the way of itself too much. One would like to see the full team name and/or a logo, but it is an okay design for being so simple. In general, the 60s designs were decent. I'd put the 67s in the 3rd or 4th spot for the decade. Apropos of Bob, in '67 the Cardinals faced the Red Sox in the World Series and Gibson pitched 3 complete game victories giving up a total of 14 hits.
Here is another one. This is one of the several combo cards Topps did throughout the 60s. This one features Tigers' sluggers Norm Cash and Al Kaline. In '68 The Cardinals faced the Tigers in the World Series. Bob Gibson started games 1 (CG 5-hitter with 17Ks), 4 (CG 5-hitter with 10Ks and he hit a home run), and 7 (CG 8-hitter with 8 Ks). The next season MLB lowered the mound because Bob (and others) were too good.
