1969 Team Issued card - Steve Carlton

Steve Carlton is one of the best pitchers ever. Among his many accomplishments, he won 4 Cy Young awards. Here he is on the Cardinals in a 1969 photo card produced by LPIU for the Cardinals. They made these each year for around 10 years. It is difficult to know what year the card is from without referencing the team set it belongs to, and figuring out what season the roster matches to. They are nice, though black and white was long gone, the high quality b&w and good facsimile signature make for a sharp product.

Steve Carlton is a bit of a sore subject in Cardinals lore. The owner didn't want to pay for top money for stars and traded Carlton away just as he was entering his prime. He played for the Phillies the rest of his career and etched his name in the history books. Meanwhile, the 70s Cardinals stunk.
