The '90s Mariners were loaded with young talent. The talent infusion began in the late 80s with the additions of Edgar Martinez, Tino Martinez, Jay Buhner, and Ken Griffey Jr. Who could have guessed back in 1989 that Edgar would someday be elected to the Hall of Fame. Who could have guessed that Edgar would be a consistent hitting machine the likes of which are rarely seen? I did. I guessed it. I totally predicted Edgar Martinez would be a 68 WAR player as a Designated Hitter. Just kidding.
Mother's Cookies is a west coast cookie company. They included cards as team sets with their cookie products in the 50s, 80s, and 90s. They were team sets for their market, so only the west coast teams and Texas (and the Paciic Coast League in the 50s). The design did not vary much. But their rounded corners and glossy clear photos were high quality for the time, especially for a food card.
