1991 Topps - Chipper Jones

In 1991 Topps celebrated their 40th anniversary. They did so by once again running out the same standard of cardboard they'd been running for years. However, they did make a premium set call Stadium Club. and the good news for Topps was that even though Upper Deck, Score, and Leaf were putting out a better base product, Donruss and Fleer were out-doing one another for awful. Getting back to this card, on the top left is a 40th logo, and you can also make it out in the background of the card's back. Big whoopitty do.

I remember buying this card from a kid who had set up a table in the parking lot of my dad's townhouse community. I was intrigued by the "#1 draft pick" and that his name was Chipper. I also bought a few Moises Alou rookie cards from that kid. I had done so reading on Moises and was sure he was going to be a big hit. It was fun to see both of those speculative buys play out over the years (though the value never really changed). Moises had a very good career, but Chipper had a great one.
