Gaylord was a notorious pitcher in the major leagues for over 20 years (from the 60s to the 80s). His notoriety stemmed from his reputation for doctoring the baseball for spitballs and puffballs. He used his reputation to his advantage, playing it up on the mound to torment the hitters. But when I think of Perry I think of a guy whose hair grayed early and made him look ancient out there.
The 1967 Topps set was another fairly straightforward design for Topps (as already discussed with the '67 Gibson and Bengals Belters post). I don't mind some of this simple designs, but it isn't anything special. The comic drawings on the back are something that one will see on several card backs over the years. Topps did a great job of filling out their card backs with a lot of fun information. The pictured example is a card I got in a group of cards for a couple of bucks. The pen autograph may or may not be legitimate, it shares some characteristics with some legitimate autographs I see online. Even if it is no good, at that price, it was worth a shot.

Here is his 1974 Topps card when he was with the Indians (Guardians).
